Improved safety

The extremely low wear rate of the SIBS® IV Driveline brakes means the emergency brake performs properly EVERY time. The ‘spring applied hydraulic release’ ensures that the emergency brake is always FULLY applied, eliminating the potential for partial application of the emergency brake, a significant risk for ‘uncontrolled vehicle movements’. The emergency brake is electronically interlocked to ensure the emergency brake is applied every time the engine is turned off or a door is opened.

Low maintenance

Minimal maintenance is required as all key brake system components are now enclosed and protected in an oil-filled housing.

Reliability

As the brake caliper, rotor and brake pads are fully sealed in an oil-filled housing, SIBS® IV Driveline brakes component temperatures are reduced and completely PROTECTED from contamination. This results in an extremely reliable emergency brake as there is no deterioration of the critical brake system components. And as the emergency brake is applied fully every time through the ‘spring applied hydraulic release’, vehicles are RELIABLY restrained every time, eliminating the need for vehicle chocking.

Components

Driveline Assembly

  • A fully enclosed wet brake assembly that is fitted adjacent to the rear axle pinion
  • A ‘spring applied hydraulic release’ system where hydraulic pressure is applied to release the brake. When there is no hydraulic pressure, in a rest state, the brake is fully applied by the disc springs in the housing.

Emma Pump Module

  • An electrically operated hydraulic pump module is used to pressurise the Driveline Brake Assembly and release the brake.

SIBS® Control Box

  • A dash mounted control box used to control the application of the emergency brake. The control box also applies the emergency brake if one of the safety interlocks is activated such as the door opening or the key is turned off.

Parking Brake

  • The vehicle’s standard service brake and emergency brake system are retained and are fully operational
  • The Driveline Brake is controlled by an E-Stop button installed on the vehicle’s dash. To apply the brake, the E-Stop button is simply depressed. To release the brake, the E-Stop button is reset.

Installation & Maintenance

Installation

  • SIBS® IV Driveline Brakes are a modular design and easy to install. Depending on the axle model, the pinion cover is machined to provide a smooth mounting surface for the Driveline Brake Assembly
  • The Driveline Brake Assembly is then attached, the EMMA Pump Module is installed and the SIBS® Control Box is wired
  • A comprehensive manual is provided describing the brake installation process and maintenance procedures
  • SIBS® IV Driveline Brakes must be installed and maintained according to the manufacturer's recommendations as detailed in the Installation and Service Manual. 

Maintenance

Minor Service Replace SIBS® oil every 250 hours
Major Service When brake pad wear reaches minimum (as indicated by the pad wear indicator)
