Advanced Braking Technology (ABT, ABV), Price displayed in AUD:

READY TO TAKE YOUR MINING VEHICLE SAFETY SYSTEM TO THE NEXT LEVEL?

ABT delivers this next level of braking safety. Introducing SIBSiQ, ABT’s autonomous braking solution engineered to support Collision Avoidance System (CAS) Level 9 outcomes for underground light and medium vehicles equipped with the BrakeSAFE SIBS® platform. Designed to integrate with existing proximity detection systems, SIBSiQ delivers intelligent braking intervention in emergency situations — without relying on operator reaction or input.

Built as a comprehensive electrohydraulic upgrade to the standard SIBS braking system, SIBSiQ incorporates hydraulic system enhancements and integrated engine and power management for seamless compatibility with third-party proximity detection hardware. The result is a robust, automated braking solution that enhances vehicle safety, improves operational control, and supports safer underground operations.

UNDERSTANDING THE PROCESS

Unlike competitor systems that trigger abrupt full-stop braking—risking equipment damage and potential operator injury—SIBSiQ provides fully modulated brake control, enabling a smooth, controlled deceleration to a safe stop from speeds.

Designed specifically for light to medium-sized vehicles operating in high-risk environments, SIBSiQ extends the capability of existing ABT braking systems into higher-level collision avoidance.

SIBSiQ integrates three core components into a single braking intervention system:

  • Proximity Detection System (PDS)

Provides object and personnel detection and distance measurement.

  • Proportional Relief Valve (PRV)

Integrated into the existing EMMA pump assembly, enabling controlled hydraulic braking force.

  • Engine Torque Control

Limits engine power output to prevent a vehicle from driving through brake application during an intervention. When triggered, the system applies proportional braking force, bringing the vehicle to a controlled emergency stop.

KEY FEATURES AND BENEFITS

THE SIBSiQ DIFFERENCE

Higher-Level Collision Avoidance Where It Matters

EMESRT defines a nine-level collision avoidance framework, progressing from operator-dependent controls to full autonomy. Lower levels rely on human response, while Levels 7–8 alarms can be impacted by alert fatigue.

SIBSiQ supports Level 9 functionality by enabling automated detection and braking intervention when a collision risk is identified—delivering direct, reliable safety response in critical moments.

REGULATORY ALIGNMENT

In response to DMRE requirements for automated Collision Avoidance Systems in underground trackless mobile machines, SIBSiQ builds on ABT’s BrakeSAFE SIBS architecture to support compliance with minimal operational disruption. It delivers a practical, upgrade-based pathway to evolving safety standards—enhancing performance without re-engineering the base system.
